How to Use PASS/FAIL® Type 5 Integrator Steam Challenge Pack

      1. Place one test pack (face up) on the front, bottom shelf of a normally loaded sterilization chamber.
      2. Run a normal sterilization cycle.
      3. Upon cycle completion, remove the test pack from the sterilizer. Examine the process indicator on the top of the box to verify steam exposure. Since the test pack may be hot after sterilization, it should be disassembled only by personnel wearing proper heat protection gloves.
      4. Retrieve the sterilization record card with VAPOR LINE® integrator from within the pack.
      5. Examine the embedded VAPOR LINE® integrator for Pass or Fail results. A dark-colored bar must extend into the green (PASS) region in
order for the result to qualify as Pass. This bar may partially or completely fill the green (PASS) area of the VAPOR LINE® window.
      6. Check the dark color bar. If it’s missing or hasn’t reached the green (PASS) region, sterilization failed. Examine cycle parameters from the sterilizer printout to identify the cause. If additional testing with a new PASS/FAIL® Pack also fails, the sterilizer may need maintenance. Don’t use the sterilizer until you resolve any functionality issues.
      7. Remove the record card from the test pack and fill in all required information. Attach the processed VAPOR LINE® integrator to this
card and retain as part of the sterilization record.
      8. Discard the steam processed pack.
